The 59th Biennale will be directed by an Italian for the first time. Cecilia Alemani intends to give a voice to artists who create unique projects as they see our society. And of course the coveted Golden Lions will again be awarded in the film category in late summer. The Film Biennale will take place from August 31 to September 10, 2022.

At the Biennale, artists have been realizing ideas and concepts in various national pavilions since 1895. There are exciting projects by artists from all over the world. As always, the Biennale also offers numerous theatre, dance and music events.
