Pallio del Baradello festival

Every year the city of Como celebrates the festival of the Palio del Baradello from the end of August to the middle of September.

This festival traditionally depicts the history of the city of Como in Barbarossa's time. You can feel transported back into the Middle Ages in the faithful replica of a medieval warehouse, extras in historical costumes recreate the life of that time.

30. August:   Ceremonial entry of Barbarossa, reception and swearing-in of the captains with a ceremony of the votive candles
 

1. until September 15th :   The competitors compete in three hard-fought and spectacular races: LA GIOSTRA   (Knight tournament), LA CARIOLANA (race with tandem wooden carts), IL TIRO ALLA FUNE (tug of war)  
 

15. September:   large historical parade with various performances
