Earthquake in Italy

Lake Como is about 250 km from the epicenter of the earthquake near Bologna and is not affected by the earthquake. In Milano, about 90 km away from Lake Como, it was easy to feel it, but so far no property damage has occurred.

An official   travel warning   is issued it does not, but the ADC advises holidaymakers to inform themselves prior to departure. If you are not comfortable with the thought of visiting northern Italy right now, you should try to agree on a rebooking with your tour operator. A legally founded right to cancel the trip exists if the Foreign Office issues a travel warning or if the vacation is jeopardized. This is the case, for example, when a specific danger   consists. Fear alone is not enough.

The province of Como yesterday issued an official communique in which it   means: that the Lake Como region and surroundings are fortunately not affected by the earthquake, but slight effects of the earthquakes could also be felt here.

The earthquake is by the way a tectonic consequence of the pressure of the African plate on the European plate. This constant pressure has "pushed up" the Alps over millions of years. The Lake Como region lies outside this zone and is not earthquake-prone due to the geological conditions.
