Historic villas on Lake Como

The landscape on Lake Como is breathtaking. The lake, dominated by a majestic Alpine backdrop, was already a busy trade route in Roman times.
Noble and wealthy merchants built splendid villas and gardens with lush Mediterranean vegetation, masterpieces of art and architecture on the shores of Lake Como. Fortunately, in the earlier centuries, their builders not only had money for these palatial buildings, they also had a taste for and sense of beautiful parks and gardens. This is how this striking mixture of urban elegance and controlled nature was created.
The villas on Lake Como tell of wealth and influence, of art and collecting, they were and are stages for social life, for ; for amours and apes and sometimes even for murder and   Homicide. Many are open to visitors and are also used as event venues.
