Museum Vertemate Franchi Palace

The Vertemate Franchi Palace is located in the locality of Prosto di Piuro , only two kilometers from Chiavenna, in the Bregaglia Valley.
The palace was founded in the 16th century by two brothers of the Vertemate family, one of the richest families in the village.
It is one of the most impressive mansions in Lombardy. The palace is the only building that was spared the landslide that covered the entire village and many of the villagers in 1618.
The palace is a beautiful Renaissance masterpiece and is located in an enchanting natural setting, from which the reality of a noble family from the 16th-17th centuries.

Century can be taken. The palace building is embellished by Italian gardens, the private house, the large chestnut forest where autumn colors break out in autumn, the large orchard, the vegetable gardens, the vineyard and the country houses.
You can also see a grape press, an ice cellar (a deep cylinder-shaped pit where snow or ice was piled up in winter), a small hut for drying chestnuts and a still around the To use wine pomace and thus to get grappa.
