Sagra dei Crotti "in Chiavenna

Every year in September, the b eliebte Wine Cellar Festival takes place in and around the natural stone cellars & ldquo; Sor & egrave; l & ldquo; by Chiavenna .   You can try the different wines and local specialties there. Interested? Then come and visit us, always on 1. and 2nd weekend in September.

Meanwhile, the   Sagra dei Crotti   has become a very special year The annual meeting point for wine lovers and gourmets.

During the Wine Cellar Festival- Sagra dei Crotti , the restaurateurs, winemakers and delicatessen shops in Chiavenna offer a delicious cross-section through the kitchen and cellar of Chiavenna. Everywhere in the streets of the city there are stalls where you can find out more about the large selection of local specialties and, of course, also enjoy plenty of them.
Some of the natural stone cellar crotti have been converted into rustic pubs, in which the wines of the Valtellina and regional specialties such as the bitto cheese or the bresaola, delicious mouth-watering
dried beef are served.

During the Sagra dei Crotti period, you also have the opportunity to take part in guided tasting tours in specially selected wine cellars and natural cellars.
And & egrave; ma Cr & ograve; t is a culinary journey of discovery in the footsteps of the Crotti (grotto wine cellars) in Chiavenna and the surrounding area. The term crotto refers to natural stone cellars, these are natural grottos that have formed under the large rocks of the ancient landslides. Between the crevices of these boulders, a draft of air with a constant temperature, the so-called & ldquo; Sor & egrave; l, blows all year round. This creates ideal natural cellars for the storage of cheese, sausages and wines . Before the & ldquo; Crotti & ldquo; There are often stone benches and stone tables, inside is a small
bar.
This & ldquo; Crotti & ldquo; are a meeting place and tradition for the people of Chiavenna. Local dishes are served there in a rural setting.

As a souvenir of the And & egrave; ma Cr & ograve; t, each participant receives a & ldquo; Boccalino & ldquo; (typical wine vessel). You can pick up this present in the Palazzo Pestalozzi.
