Hike to the Rifugio Palu shelter

The Rifugio Palu refuge is located at 1965 meters above sea level on the north side of the lake of the same name in Chiesa in Valmalenco and can be easily reached via the hiking trail from Rifugio Barchi (1750m)
Description:
Ascent via the road from Valmalenco from Sondrio via Chiesa to San Giuseppe, then take the well-marked path to the right to Rifugio Palù, Motta, Longoni and Entova. Until 2006 the road ended at the parking lot next to the Sasso Nero restaurant (1527 m). Now the road is fully developed up to the Rif. Barchi.
On the ascent we come across two branches, in both cases we keep to the right. We then continue under the chairlift, past some huts and a fountain to the Rif. Barchi. You can also leave your car in the parking lot of the Sasso Nero and make the ascent on foot via the botanical hiking trail or the ski slopes. A detailed description of the hiking trail can be found in the Rif. Barchi. However, the paved road ends near the Rif. Barchi (1750 m) and turns into a path, which is the ski slope in winter.
Starting point of the hike:
After parking the car, we keep uphill on the left. Arrived at the sign indicating the Pineta Palu;, we leave the path to the Rif. Motta (2236 m)
leads and turn left.
After a short, almost flat stretch of road, we begin to climb again, at first it goes slightly uphill, then gradually it becomes increasingly steep. The ascent ends at a turning point and from there you alternate between walking up to a small hut directly above the lake. The Rifugio Palu;, a little higher up, can already be seen from here. Do not pay attention to the path that leads to the Rif on the right side of the lake. Motta leads, but continue on the other side, slightly uphill, over a bridge, now just a few more steps and we have arrived at the Rifugio Palu;.

The Rifugio Palù refuge is open from June to October and on weekends in winter. It is located very close to Europe's highest cable car, the “Snow Eagle”.
