You have come to the right place - if you want a cheap vacation or just a weekend or want to know where it is mild at this time of year

If you want to catch the last of the snow in the Alps, you have to choose a (very) high altitude resort, for example Madesimo or Livigno recommended for a day trip from Lake Como.

Easter biscuits and sweets

One of the most gratifying examples of the Italian Easter festival is the impressive presentation of special desserts and elaborate chocolate eggs that can be seen in the windows of pastry shops and caf & eacute; s. After 40 days of fasting, both adults and children long for the delicious sweets that the chocolatiers and confectioners now have ready. Every child receives at least one chocolate egg from their grandparents and it seems that these eggs get bigger every year.

The Colomba : A special Easter birthday. ck, which can only be found in stores at Easter.
The origin of this dove-shaped cake is not exactly known. But according to legend, two white pigeons appeared miraculously and sat on the banner of the brave Lombard soldiers who defeated the German attackers from the north in 1197.
Whatever the real story, the Colomba pastry is a unique specialty. Italians prefer to buy it than to bake it themselves at home. This is not surprising in view of the long and complicated manufacturing process, which requires a natural fermentation of a few days. And you have to wait exactly the right moment to cover the dough with the glaze.
So it's best to find a good bakery and enjoy the Colomba pastry with a nice glass of sparkling wine at the end of your Easter meal.
Our insider tip for the Colomba biscuit is the Pasticceria Sancassani in Bellagio !

Easter service in English

The Anglican Church in Griante near Tremezzo offers an Easter service in English on Sunday at 10:30 am. The church was built in 1891 and originally served aristocrats and intellectuals from the Protestant northern countries of Europe.
It is the first Protestant church to be built on Italian soil and it still holds services and weddings in English in the summer. Even if you do not want to attend mass, a visit to the church with its striking striped facade, the Belle & Eacute; poque gold mosaics and the beautifully decorated coffered ceilings is worthwhile.
