The imposing Albigna dam was built by EWZ from 1955 to 1959. It is 115 m high and lies at over 2100 m. M .. A small cable car takes visitors over a deep gorge to the foot of the dam. From there the tours start into the hollow chambers of the weight wall. The dam is not only used to generate electricity, but also prevents flood disasters. & Nbsp;
Guided tours .
A guided tour lasts about two hours and starts at the valley station the Pranzaira-Albigna cable car. The tours start every Tuesday (from June 1st to September 30th) at 9 a.m. and end at 11 a.m. on the top of the Albigna dam.
Number of participants: max. 16 people, min. 6 persons. Registrations will be considered in the order in which they are received. After the guided tour, take the cable car to the valley or take a hike to the SAC hut in Albigna. Telephone H & uuml; ttenwart 081 822 14 05.
Security: A good physical condition and a head for heights are prerequisites for participating in the tour. Adults are responsible for children they are accompanying. The tour is not suitable for people with heart, respiratory or circulatory problems. Good shoes and warm clothing are required.
Cable car operation : 7 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and 1.15 p.m. to 4.45 p.m. Prices for a tour including ascent and descent with the cable car: Adults CHF 25.-/Children from 6 years CHF 12.-.
